Los Gigantes is a pretty little resort town located on the west coast of Tenerife. The majestic cliffs of Acantilado de Los Gigantes rise above the town, almost vertically descending into the ocean waters.
This mountain range is the western slope of the Teide volcano, it has no gentle slopes and consists of sheer cliffs. The highest cliff is 500 metres high. The mountain range and the resort town beneath it are named after the grandeur of the cliffs.
Thanks to these cliffs, many consider Los Gigantes to be one of the most beautiful places on the island.

Los Gigantes Tenerife Resort: My Opinion
Is los gigantes worth visiting?
I think Los Gigantes is definitely worth at least a day trip. The cliffs of Los Gigantes are absolutely stunning, especially if you enjoy the view from the water on a boat trip.
Should you choose Los Gigantes as your base and spend your holiday here?
The answer depends on your preferences. If you are looking for a quiet resort away from the touristy hustle and bustle, then Los Gigantes will appeal to you.
If you are looking for a warm resort, with guaranteed good weather without rain even in winter, then Los Gigantes is the best choice. As the resort of Los Gigantes is located on the west coast of Tenerife, which is considered to be the warmest, and is sheltered from the winds by the cliffs, Los Gigantes is considered to be the warmest place on the whole island.
The resort is located away from the tourist triangle Costa Adeje – Los Cristianos – Playa de las Americas, where most tourists prefer to spend their holidays.
Here it is much calmer and cosier, there is no urban bustle and high-rise hotels.
Tourists come to Los Gigantes to be secluded and admire the natural beauty.
Therefore, Los Gigantes is ideal for lovers of a quiet relaxing holiday. Holidaymakers in this resort will be able to enjoy incredibly beautiful scenery, diving, boat trips and a beach with black volcanic sand.
Los Gigantes beach : Playa de los Guios
The beach at Los Gigantes Resort is named Playa de los Guios, but most travellers refer to it simply as Los Gigantes Beach.
The beach at Los Gigantes is relatively small and has black volcanic sand. It is not the size of the beach that attracts travellers, but the beauty of the cliffs surrounding the beach.
Playa de los Guillos is also famous for having the warmest water in Tenerife. Standing in the water under the scorching sun, the 500 metre high cliffs release heat into the ocean and protect the beach from the wind. That’s why on Los Gigantes beach the water is always a few degrees warmer than everywhere else in Tenerife.
The beach is clean with soft sand. You can hire sunbeds.
There is a cafe near the beach and a harbour where you can buy boat trips with dolphin and whale watching.
There are showers and free toilets on the beach.
Los Gigantes beach is shaded by rocks until lunchtime, so you can get by without hiring umbrellas if you like to go to the beach in the morning.
