Weather in Tenerife in November: Is It Warm Enough?

When the winter season starts to roll around, there is nothing better than a warm island escape. And there is no better escape than Tenerife for a simple reason: the weather in Tenerife in November is amazing!

Tenerife is the largest island in the Canary Islands, and its proximity to Africa ensures it has beautiful weather year-round. Thanks to the warm temperature in Tenerife in November, you can enjoy relaxing on the beach or go for a hike through the island’s forests. There is a bit of everything for all kinds of travelers to experience.

Getting to Tenerife is quite easy as they have two airports: Los Rodeos Tenerife North Airport and Reina Sofia Tenerife South Airport. With its easy access, mild weather, and endless activities, Tenerife is the ultimate late autumn and winter getaway location.

This post will delve into the weather of Tenerife during November, hotels with heated pools, and things to do in Tenerife in November. If you are planning your Tenerife trip, this post is a great place to start.

1 – Temperature in Tenerife in November

Is Tenerife hot in November? Is it warm enough to sunbathe in Tenerife in November? You’re going to love the answers 🙂

The average temperatures in Tenerife in November are at about 20°C / 68°F. It’s not too hot, but it is still warm enough to appreciate the beauty of Tenerife’s landscapes. See the table below for more temperature specifics for Tenerife in November:

As you can see, Tenerife climate in November is quite attractive.

In November last year, only two days had any rain. So, if it rains while you are there, it will only be for about two days. And even then, that is only if you are really unlucky!

What is Tenerife like in November? Most days in November are warm and sunny, with little to no breeze. Yes, you’ve chosen a great place for your trip 🙂

1.2 – Weather difference between the Northern and the Southern parts of Tenerife in November

Fortunately, the weather in Tenerife is warm and sunny as a whole. The North of Tenerife is more mountainous and is better for travelers who want to reconnect with nature. Since there is more greenery here, there is also more rainfall.

It won’t rain every day, but if you want nothing but sunshine, I recommend sticking to the Southern parts of Tenerife. The South is where all the beaches are, so you can expect warmer weather and more sunshine.

Tenerife South weather in November is more stable and predictable than the weather in the island’s Northern part. Tenerife South is also the warmest part of Tenerife in November.

Both the Northern region or Southern region are amazing and have mild climates. Deciding which area to visit boils down to what you want out of your experience from the island.

The resort of Playa de Las Americas also has spectacular weather, but has a bit more rain than Costa Adeje. There is an average of three rainy days, but only about one inch over those three days. So, even if you are unlucky enough to catch the rain, it will be more of a drizzle.

The beginning of November is quite hot at 23°C / 73°F, but drops towards the end of the month to 20.5°C / 69°F. Which is still much warmer than many other countries in November!

2.3 Puerto De la Cruz weather November

Located in the northern part of Tenerife, Puerto De la Cruz has year-round subtropical weather. The afternoons generally reach a high of 24°C / 75°F, perfect for some sunbathing and beach fun.

In the evenings, the temperatures drop to around 19°C / 66°F. So, take a light jacket with you when exploring the local restaurants and bars. Just because it’s a bit chilly to swim at night, doesn’t mean the fun has to stop in Tenerife.

With only 2 inches of rain throughout the whole month of November, you won’t have to worry too much about a rainy day.

2.4 Los Gigantes weather November

In November, Tenerife stays nice and warm. But Los Gigantes is a bit warmer than the rest. The average high temperature of Los Gigantes is 25°C / 77°F, but can reach even higher temperatures. In the evening, the lows reach on average 18°C / 64°F for a cool night out. So if you are looking for the hottest part of Tenerife in November, consider Los Gigantes.

Similar to the other parts of Tenerife, Los Gigantes is warmest in the first week of November. By the end of November, the region cools down and gets a bit chilly for beach fun. Even if you go towards the end of the month, there will hardly be any rain. Los Gigantes only receives about an inch of rainfall during all of November.

Can you swim in Tenerife in November?

Yes! Even though the winter season is creeping up, Tenerife’s waters are a delight to swim in. The waters are about 22.7°C / 73°F, so they are nice and warm. If you feel that it is still too chilly, some hotels come with heated pools. That way, you can soak in warm waters at any time of year.

5 – Things to do in Tenerife in November

There are many things to do in Tenerife outside of just the beach. Here are some amazing activities to check out and some celebrations to experience in November.

San Andrés Festival

No trip to Tenerife in November would be complete without partaking in the San Andrés festival. At the end of November in Puerto de la Cruz, the wine cellars are opened, and it’s time to try the new wine.

But that’s not what makes this event stand out. During this festival, you will likely see teens and kids sliding down the town’s streets on oiled-up wooden boards. It is like snow sledding, but without the snow. Talk to some of the locals, and see if you can join in for a unique experience. Or just enjoy the fresh wine, either option will be unforgettable.

Anaga Rural Park

Tenerife has some gorgeous hiking trails for the traveler that wants a bit more excitement. One of the best trails for both advanced and beginner hikers is Anaga Rural Park. There are both short hikes and ones that last for days.

It is best to start your hike at Cruz del Carmen Visitors Center, and find which trail best suits your skill level. Whichever you decide to take, the beauty will take your breath away. Click here for more information about Anaga UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Tour.

Whale Watching

One of the best things about having warm water year-round, is that much of the marine life in Tenerife doesn’t migrate. When you visit Tenerife in November, look out for some whale or dolphin watching tours. Whales are there all year, so no matter when you travel, you can go whale watching!

Most of these tours are in the South of Tenerife in areas like Playa de Las Americas and Costa Adeje. Try to make sure to take a tour that is sustainable, and that gives back to the local community. Book your Whale Watching tour here at a discount.
