So what about the beaches?

Where To Stay In Tenerife In May

The more touristy part of the island is in the south, and it makes perfect sense: you can find the best beaches with resorts, plenty of boutique shopping in the towns near Los Cristianos, and plenty of activities for different tastes. It’s also a place where the weather is more stable.

So if you’re a sun worshipper, you’re better off staying in the south.

Tenerife is precious for more than just its sea coast.

If you’re keen to explore Mother Nature’s sanctuaries, head north. Warning: you’ll fall in love with the paradisiacal landscapes of the north with its tropical greenery.

The north is wetter and more humid than the south, which is why it is the cause of all this green beauty.

The overwhelming green hue of the slopes, which stretches across the island, sanctifies visitors with incredible scenes that cannot be seen anywhere else. Without any surprises, explorers from all over the world choose to add Tenerife to their climbing and hiking destinations bucket list. The perfect place for this is Anaga Park. Things To Do In Tenerife In May

What to do in Tenerife in May? Tenerife is such a diverse island that there’s plenty to do at any time of year. If you love the sea and animals, you can go on whale and dolphin watching excursions.

Hiking enthusiasts will have a great time at Anaga Park. And of course, everyone should definitely experience Mount Teide at least once in their lifetime.

In May you can also take part in the Canary Islands National Day (Día de Canarias), which falls on the 30th of May.

What exactly is celebrated and why on 30 May? 30 May is a public holiday throughout the Canarian archipelago, a date on which the people of the Canary Islands commemorate the celebration of the first session of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, which took place in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on 30 May 1983. This meeting made official the union of the whole archipelago under the local government elected by the Canary Islanders. The government has settled in the capitals of the two oldest inhabited islands: Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

What can you do on National Canary Day?

This cultural festival refers to the intense, unique, and colourful Canarian identity. For this reason, artistic and social activities take place with folkloric music, sports events, games, Canarian wrestling known as Lucha Canaria, and La Vela Latina Canaria, – Canarian lateen sailing, a type of nautical boat sport. The weather in Tenerife in May is perfect for all these outdoor activities.

Various municipalities organise their own Canary Islands Day programme. This date is an ideal time to celebrate the archipelago traditions with folklore performances, theatrical shows for children, and craft markets with products created by the Canary Islanders.

What To Wear In Tenerife In May ?

What to pack for Tenerife in May is a reasonable question. My recommendation is to bring different clothes for different weather.

Mornings in Tenerife are spring, when you want to throw a denim jacket or fleece jacket over your shoulders. Afternoons in Tenerife are summer and you’ll want swimming costumes, flip flops and dresses. The evenings after sunset and nights in Tenerife in May are almost like winter, or at least autumn. And if there’s a lot of wind blowing, or if you’re planning to visit the mountainous areas of the island, you’ll need a pair of trainers, trousers and a lightweight down jacket.
